Factors influencing the attitude of Czech parents towards selected vaccine-preventable infectious diseases

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of the attitude of parents towards selected infectious diseases which are preventable by vaccines in the Czech Republic. The primary focus is on parents' opinions on vaccination against invasive diseases caused by meningococci, haemophili and pneumococci. The theoretical part discusses the issue of vaccination, its importance and organizational structure; it further describes the selected pathogens, the diseases they cause and the epidemiological situation. It also considers the factors that may lead many parents to distrust and be critical of vaccination. The main aim of the practical part is to find out by means of an online questionnaire which social, geo-demographic, economic and other factors influence the choice of parents to have their children vaccinated against the given bacteria. Statistical methods of χ2 -independence test and binary logistic regression have been used to evaluate the data obtained from the questionnaire with the help of the SPSS program. Cost Analysis of Pneumococcus Vaccination and Treatment of Pneumonia within Senior Population

Pneumonia is a common disease spread throughout the whole world. It appears within all age groups, however, the most endengered groups are the infants and seniors whose lives are more likely at risk. This final thesis compares direct costs of the preventative actions utilizing the Prevenar 13 vaccine and costs related to the ambulatory treatment and consequent care of the hospitalized patients. Calculations are based on anonymised data from an ambulant care and hospitalized patient treatments in hospital of Melnik town.
Factors influencing consumer decision on the selection of pneumococcal vaccines

This thesis deals with problems of vaccination, which is today a very discussed topic. Thesis is focused on general information about immunization, vaccine calendar, safety and legislation on vaccination. In the thesis is also examined public opinion about vaccination. The thesis is mainly focused on optional vaccination against pneumococcal infections. Specifically looks at the factors which influence consumer decision-making in the selection of pneumococcal vaccines. Compared are the two competing preparations, Synflorix and Prevenar. The objective of the thesis is to identify and compare factors influencing the consumer choice of vaccine against pneumococcal infections.
